hives
Two aims are pursued by my choice of hives.
First to unite a large variety of alternative and conventional hives in one space. For example Warre, log, conventional, golden and St John hives. In order for novices to be able to make an informed choice based on actual experience and to learn from comparative beekeping myself.
Secondly to further develop my own hive design called St John hive. This design is rather a set of choices embodied into different forms then a single type of box. Some of those choices are to use single cavities (i.e. no frames or bars), upright design, little or no metal and central sloping entrances where possible. I have incorporated this design into hexagonal, octagonal and log hives so far.
